TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) named four suspects in the case of acute kidney injury in children, which has claimed the lives of 200 victims.
Bareskrim’s Director of Special Crimes Brigadier General Pipit Rismanto explained the four suspects are Endis (E) a.k.a Pidit as President Director of CV Samudera Chemical, Andri Rukmana (AR) as Director of CV Samudera Chemical, Alvio Ignasio Gustan (AIG) as President Director of CV Anugrah Perdana Gemilang (APG), and Aris Sanjaya (US) as Director of CV APG.
“Investigators named four suspects related to corporations. They have been arrested too. Two suspects were previously listed in the wanted list [DPO], and one week ago we made arrests,” said Pipit in a press conference in North Jakarta on Monday, January 30, 2023.
Pipit said that all suspects were charged with multiple articles and there will likely be more suspects to be announced given the ongoing investigation. Investigators also seized evidence, including white drums with a capacity of 215 kilograms containing ethylene glycol (EG) liquid, a mixture of EG and propylene glycol (PG), and sorbitol liquid, as well as a number of documents, cell phones, and bank cards belonging to the suspects.
Until now, seven pharmaceutical companies and four people have been named as suspects in the acute kidney injury case by the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and the Bareskrim Polri.
BPOM named two corporations as suspects namely PT Yarindo Farmatama and PT Universal Pharmaceutical. Meanwhile, the police named five other corporations as suspects, viz. PT Afi Farma, CV Samudera Chemical, PT Tirta Buana Kemindo, CV Anugrah Perdana Gemilang, and PT Fari Jaya Pratama.
