TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno encouraged micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to persevere in developing their business to become established corporations with legal status.
“MSMEs must not be stagnated; they must upgrade themselves to the corporation level,” Uno stated at the Genpro (Professional Global Entrepreneurs) community seminar as revealed in a statement that ANTARA received on Sunday.
At the seminar, Uno was accompanied by the ministry’s Deputy for Resources and Institution Martini M Paham, Special Staff for Monitoring and Evaluation of Strategic and Priority Policies Panji Gurnadi Danuhusodo, and Special Staff for Tourism Destination Security and Strategic Issues Brigadier General Ario Prawiseso.
Uno said that by achieving the corporation level, entrepreneurs would find more business opportunities and open more jobs for the people to help achieve the 4.4-million job target by 2024.
Meanwhile, Uno pointed out that the fundamentals of industries in the sectors of digital technology, healthcare, and environmental sustainability, would remain bright in 2023, and MSME entrepreneurs must seek opportunities from those sectors.
He also reiterated the ministry’s commitment to helping improve human resources quality for MSMEs to ensure the MSMEs to be run by competent and quality human resources.
The ministry’s deputy of resources and institution will also organise upskilling and reskilling programmes to help MSMEs develop as established corporations that may, in the future, offer their company shares to public at the IPO (initial public offering) in the stock exchange, he added.
“By doing so, our business and work opportunities will be more open,” Uno remarked.
Earlier, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan has said that the government is supporting the improvement of MSMEs by seeking to integrate four pillars to build an ecosystem that helps develop their competitiveness.
During the visit to Binjai, North Sumatra, on Tuesday (January 17), Hasan noted that the four pillars include MSMEs, modern retail, marketplaces, and banking. All of which must be integrated into one ecosystem.
