TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said that discussions regarding incentives for electric vehicle ownership at the government level are being finalized. Despite not revealing the actual numbers, Minister Sri said that the value has been set along with who will have the authorization for this incentive.
“A finalization is being done. As I said on numerous occasions if there are new incentives, especially those that use the State Budget, we must consult with members of the House,” Sri said to journalists at the Cikarang Dry Port, West Java, on Friday, January 27, 2023.
Sri’s statement comes after the Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Binar Pandjaitan said at the Saratoga Investment Summit 2023 that the actual incentive for electric vehicle ownership will be applied in February of 2023.
Luhut argued that such a program is needed to accelerate the introduction of electric vehicles among members of the public.
“We have finalized [the electric vehicle incentive] during the limited meeting yesterday. The Minister’s Decree from the Finance Ministry must already be issued next week. Hopefully in early February,” said Luhut Pandjaitan on Thursday, January 26, 2023. “It will be prioritized for the average people.”
